Dark clouds on the horizon,

a gloomy day ahead;

There’s no use in getting up.

I think I’ll stay in bed.

No coffee for this morning.

I did not plan ahead.

The day seems more depressive,

so, I think I’ll stay in bed.

The rain has started falling.

It’s lulling me to sleep.

I can’t seem to fight it,

so, I’ll just go back to sleep.

Some days, it doesn’t pay you

to even pull the covers back.

You stick your head beneath them

and let others pick up the slack.

I composed this poem one day while driving home from town. The sky was black and my mood wasn’t much lighter. After I put the poem to paper, I realized that the Republican party was doing just what the poem said. A black cloud has hung over this nation for five years. Instead of taking action to make our situation better, our leaders have pulled the covers over their heads, settled back into bed and decided there just wasn’t any good enough reason to get up and make an effort.

Well, the slack has come due and there are no others to pick it up. So, dear friends, the storm is coming. Each will have to decide what to do and where to go when this storm of eternity breaks loose and rains down upon us. There will be confusion. Evil will prevail for a period of time.

I don’t know what you have planned, but I am headed to a spot beneath the wings that God will spread as a cover for his little children. You are welcome to stand beside me under cover of God’s grace. Together, we will listen to the storm. I’ll help pass around the cups of hot tea with cream and honey. We will all huddle together for warmth, sip a little tea and watch the poor souls who listened to Obama scramble to and fro.

We will feel tremendous sorrow that they listened to the great deceiver, but there will be nothing we can do to help at that point. I will not allow their misery to take from me the joy I will experience in the comfort of His sheltering arms.

Do you know where you will be when the storm clouds rise? I hope so, because you don’t have much time left to decide.
